Location and Background

Kasese is nestled approximately 380 kilometers(240miles) west from Kampala in the Western Region Uganda, to the north Bundibugyo, to the north east Bunyangabo District, to the south east Kamwenge District, to the south Rubirizi District then to the west Democratic Republic of Congo covering a total surface area of almost 3389.8 kilometers.

Kasese coordinates are zero degree11”12.0” North, 30 degrees 05”17.0” East (Latitudes 0.186667 Longitude 30.088050) Kasese is the largest town in the Rwenzururu Region it lies north of Lake George and east of Rwenzori Mountains.

Mubuku Irrigation Scheme

While at Kasese tourists are granted opportunity to visit Mubuku Irrigation Scheme Uganda’s largest irrigation scheme which rises in Rwenzori and disperses it across almost 500 hectares of plain. This project was established by the government of Uganda situated almost 16 kilometers (99 miles) by road north of Kasese town.
With the guidance of well-trained tour guides guests get chance to visit the gardens of local people interact with farmers learning how different crops like maize, groundnuts, beans, rice, millet are grown on large scale as well as knowing how the local farmers spend their day-to-day life style.

Kasese Market

Kasese Market is comprises of many flesh agricultural goods that are sold to clients at affordable prices and are of good quality such as rice, maize, millet, yams cassava sweet potatoes, banana(matooke) fruits, vegetables, textiles among others.
Guests get chance to interact with the local people knowing how they spend their day-to-day activities, interested tourists purchase goods, souvenirs hence supporting the local community and substantiable tourism.

Rwenzori Art Centre

Tourists are also granted with the opportunity to visit the Rwenzori Art Centre this venue is opened daily from 1:00 am in the morning up to 14:00 in the afternoon gazette on an area of about 60 hectares
Tourists will see different anticraft pieces, thirty stunning bronzes that represent the different clan totems of Uganda feel free to buy some pieces at relatively affordable prices
The place also has a well-established coffee shop that serves guest with hot drinks, biscuits and snacks at a friendly cost.

Kasese Airstrip

Tourists are always granted with the opportunity to visit the Kasese Airport which is located in Kasese town in the western Region of Uganda at the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountain close to the international border with in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Best Time to Visit Kasese Town

Kasese town can be visited throughout the year however best time to visited during the dry seasons, which typically run from December to February and from June to August.
During these periods the weather is more favorable for outdoor activities, with less rainfall received.
